Motivation is everything. You can do the work of two people, but you can't be two people. Instead, you have to inspire the next guy down the line and get him to inspire his people.

As far as "social news" websites, Newsvine is by far the most elegant I've seen. Where Digg is popular and driven by a crazed fan base, Reddit is simple and easy to load on your browser, NewVine is the best looking, slickest and most professional Web 2.0 of all the news/bookmarking sites. Check it out.

I like the "Newsvine live" feature on the right hand side that scrolls the incoming stories and I love the interface design. You can close panels, arrange them how you want and totally customize the interface. I submitted a few stories to Newsvine recently and I did get some hits, not as many as Reddit or Digg, but it was still worth the half a minute it took to submit.

I'd recommend this one to anybody. Actually, Paul, if you're reading this, Newsvine is where I saw the Barry Bonds leaving San Francisco story first.

Is it true you get paid for writing articles on Newsvine? Somebody on Sitepoint forum said I should make an account on Newsvine and write articles there instead of making a blog. I want to do somethign about fashion. Do you think think the person who told me the info was right? I'm going to start doing something this week. I just need some direction.

Yes, it's true that you get paid for writing articles on Newsvine. Here's the details from their FAQ.

Quote
Newsvine works hard to sell advertising around the site so that everyone can benefit from contributing. You will receive 90% of the display advertising earnings from your own domain (e.g. “yourname.newsvine.com”). Ad earnings are based on traffic to your articles and seeds. The other 10% will go to whoever referred you to Newsvine. If no one referred you to Newsvine, the other 10% will be used to offset the cost of bandwidth, upkeep, and improvements to the site. The revenue you earn will be proportional to the following you acquire. Our philosophy is that where you add value to Newsvine, you should receive value in return.

I didn't know that fact but I was writing a review of Newsvine for one of my blogs today and I found it out. Anyway, if you're interested, here's my article on Newsvine.

Newsvine Review

I'm liking Newsvine more and more every day.
